''Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, just don't know where to look.''– Ronald Reagan
I was not named after President Reagan. My dad, who's name is Ronald, used to call me "the Governor", but not because of then Governor Reagan. He was a limey from London, England. That's just how he talked. "Ello, Guv'na!"
Partly this is how Ronald Wilson Reagan became an inspiration to me. Like me, he got his start in broadcasting. I have a dream of ultimately becoming a good communicator, but he was known as "The Great Communicator". He and I have both been called "The Antichrist" in our efforts to stand for what is right.
He stuck to his principles, and stood for freedom above all else. He saw the fall of communism years ahead of others, saying it would one day be relegated to the ash heap of history. He was instrumental in the end of oppression, and as such, an instrument in the hands of God. He was a hero to many. I was saddened to learn of his passing. I was too young to appreciate him when he was in his heyday.
We sorrow not as others who have no hope! He will be back in the resurrection! Nevertheless, it feels as though I lost a grandfather.
This was a great statesman and champion of freedom who won the cold war, possibly saving millions of lives. He did it with "Star Wars"! Therefore, as of today, please, by all means -
Call me RAYGUN!
