field. He makes his living teaching music
including guitars, basses, drums, keyboards and vocals, plus recording
and performing arts, now serving the greater Gig Harbor area
in Washington State, including
Purdy, Wauna, Vaughn, Fox Island, Tacoma, University Place, Lakewood,

Hello, I'm Regan Balman (a.k.a. "Octaman"). First off, I'm no Tiger! But you can call me the Lion. I'm a non-professional single digit handicapper known in Gig Harbor, Washington as the guitar-playing competitive golfer. I'm a musician by trade, but I love golf and have a unique ability to simplify the game for the beginning or struggling golfer. I have helped others and I can help you, with an amazing intuitive approach that is almost magic as well as very entertaining. I am offering a free golf lesson. Now if you are already a pro or low handicapper, I would refer you a professional somewhere else. My free lesson is perfect for beginning to average players, especially kids. I offer everything from just getting started to learning how to loose that slice, understanding how to draw the ball, gaining distance, improving green side techniques, developing your putting skills, to course management. Understanding the golf swing has helped others and I want to help you, because I simply love to do it. I
have learned
a few things that
turned me from a
duffer into a decent golfer. I can drive the ball straight, I can hit
an 8 iron 175 yards, my sand wedge 115 yards, I have a very high level
greenside game, and I can absolutely putt the eyes out.
I
shoot routinely in the 70's from the back tees, and I
believe I can show you how to get the most out of your own natural
potential. An entertainer by trade, I'm an engaging personality
and that makes it fun as you improve your game and start heading
in a much better direction - and
there is no charge!
Like Tiger Woods says in the title of his book, and then explains further - I won't show you how to play golf. I will show you "How I Play Golf". Bobby Jones says it as well in his video series of the same title. I draw from the knowledge gained from all the pros as well as "The Golf Channel". I quote incessantly what the pro's say with almost every tip I will share with you. Many don't have the opportunity to watch the Golf Channel. I help capsulize it for you. Tips on flexibility and fitness are included. I'm planning a book, "Perfect Golf" - explaining how you can score in the 80's or even the 70's consistently without any expensive clubs, teaching equipment or lots of golf lessons. You don't even need to spend lots of time or visit the driving range often. Just a little creative practice of co-ordination, logic and common sense go along way to playing the old game of ball and stick. I have set out to prove once and for all that golf is a simple, easy game to play. So many people put so much time and money into what is really a pretty simple thing - hitting a ball with a stick - at another stick. I believe the average tour pro is only slightly better than you can be, if you are moderately coordinated, and that is because they just play golf and do almost nothing else. Go

WHY THE
FREE OFFER?
OCTAMAN is the renegade golfer, representing the joy and freedom of pure golf vs. the tyranny of a status quo establishment wanting to charge you an arm and a leg just to learn how to hold a club! The philosophy is simple: It's an EASY game and you can play it well almost immediately with NO expensive lessons, and NO expensive equipment, and with only a moderate amount of practice. Octaman is the antithesis to the stale old approach which says that you MUST see your local pro and get fitted with special clubs and swing a certain way. The secret they don't want to share is that everyone is different, and there are MANY different ways to hit a golf ball. Applying common sense you can hit the ball long and straight, and no special license is required to share it with others. The PGA website says: "There is no quick and easy way to achieve PGA certification -- PGA Members earn their status only by undergoing a multi-year series of work, study and training in every aspect of golf ranging from teaching to tournament management to golf shop operations, and must maintain their expertise through a variety of continuing education programs." Then only six short paragraphs later, the same PGA webpage says: "There is no quick and easy way to achieve PGA certification -- PGA Members earn their status only by undergoing a multi-year series of work, study and training in every aspect of golf ranging from teaching to tournament management to golf shop operations...etc. etc." That's right, they repeat the very same paragraph verbatim. With that approach, no wonder it takes so many years! Octaman disagrees with that approach. Golf is just a GAME like baseball or basketball. Do we require a multi-year program to teach a kid how to throw a ball or shoot a basket? No, it comes naturally. Does catching or throwing a ball require "continuing education programs" in order to teach to others? NO! It's the same old thing that it ever was, just throw and catch. All you might need are a couple of easy pointers, and you DON'T need a pro to teach you. Tiger Woods' father was not a pro, and he was one of the best golf teachers the world ever saw. How sad it is that SOME golf "professionals" might ban Tiger's dad from their golf course, NOT because he was black, but for the audacious offense of teaching his son on their premises without being "certified", and for not paying the local pro hundreds of dollars for something Tiger's dad could do much better. Octaman has never had a lesson, has played only a few short years and has a single digit handicap. He has only played on a golf course less than 90 times (as of July 09'), which is a little over once per month since he started in late 2003. The last time out at the course pictured on the left, he shot 77 (July 5 09'), and the next time out at a longer local course he shot 79 (July 11 09'). Maybe that's not pro, but it sure makes some people jealous! Octaman can impove your game. There is no rule written or otherwise that you must be certified to teach the simple game of golf. It's not about lots of talent, heavy amounts of practice or paying the right "pro". It's about logic and common sense. With a passion for coaching, Octaman loves to share it with others.
